On a sunny September evening, I thought I would take a stroll around the Old Railway Walk and Memorial Garden in Ardee.

Many of us grew up walking these trails, and naturally they have changed a lot over the years. Long gone are the sleepers, but little ghosts of the past still crop out amongst the blackberries and hedges. An old bridge towards the edge of town showcases the River Dee. At this time of year it's truly alive.

The area has been maintained to such a high level by volunteer caretaker, Dermot Maguire.

For those who can’t visit in person, I have created a video here.
