A lot is happening this August for heritage week - including talks, walks and even archery!
Locally in Ardee, Friends of Ardee Bog will be hosting a bog appreciation day. As this may be one of the last times to see such an event with the bog in it's current form, it's one not to be missed. Learn why so many locals are concerned about the full preservation of this site, it's beauty and wonder, and of course it's importance as "Ireland's rainforest". Join the gang on August 18th, 11AM-7PM. More details on their Facebook page. You can also e-mail them at ardeebog@gmail.com.

If you prefer bats over birds, head to Dundalk on Aug 23rd at 8.30PM for a guided bat walk around St Helena’s Park. Led by Bat Conservation Ireland, this event is weather dependent and may have to be rescheduled if there is heavy rain or high winds. Like a lot of planned activities during the week, it’s a free event. Children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times (children must be 7 or older to attend). Booking is essential as places are limited. To book please email biodiversity@louthcoco.ie stating the number of adult and child spaces you would like to reserve providing a contact phone number. When you book you will receive a confirmation email with event details including the meeting point and what you need to bring.

Not much of a walker? You can still appreciate nature through the lens of others. A photography exhibition will take place in Carlingford Heritage Centre between August 19th-25th, 10AM-5PM. Carlingford's lovely Heritage Centre will have free entry for the week (it's usually just €3) as it acts as the venue for a photographic exhibition entitled 'Across the Lough’.
The local archery club will be in Ardee for teenage girls who would like to try out this sport for the first time. Ardee Community School - August 18th, 12PM to 2PM. For further information contact The Louth Local Sports Partnership: 0861659212 / julie.duffy@louthcoco.ie
