The main playground in Ardee, situated down at the Fair Green area of the town, is set to see major changes in the coming weeks. To facilitate these works the playground will be closed to the public from September 9th to November 20th 2024.
Families who frequent the park will know that the facilities have fallen into disrepair in recent years, and while the local Tidy Towns team have kept the area looking clean and fresh, there has been noticeable damage to the amenities due to weather and general use.

Missing screws, graffiti, broken sections, as well as a warped and cracked ground have been the main issues plaguing the children of this busy playground. As part of this much anticipated refurbishment, the plans include:
Castle playhouse with two bench seats
Timber balance beam and timber rope bridge
Installation of wheelchair accessible eight person group seesaw
Various sensory play panels
Wheelchair accessible in-ground trampoline
Installation of new safety surface
Installation of new playgrounds gate
Extension of footpath and repainting of the existing equipment
All of this sounds absolutely amazing, and time will tell if it can be pulled together.
We look forward to reporting on the changes once works have been completed.
